What is the waste toner unit/box of a printer?

The waste toner unit (also known as a waste toner box or waste toner container) of a printer is used to collect and contain the toner that is not transferred from the image drum unit onto the paper during the printing process. It is typically located in the printer and can be easily removed and replaced when full. Without a waste toner unit, excess toner accumulates inside the printer and causes problems such as poor print quality or mechanical failures.

How long should my printer’s waste toner unit last?

The lifetime of a waste toner unit depends on the printer and the amount of printing being done; it can be anywhere between 20,000 pages and 50,000 pages or more.

How should I know when to replace the waste toner unit in my printer?

The printer will usually indicate via the control panel display screen or a light that the waste toner container needs to be replaced. Some printers will stop printing until the waste toner unit is replaced.

How should I empty the waste toner unit in my printer?

It’s important to consider that printer toner is an extremely fine and hazardous material that you do not want to spill anywhere or breathe in. Avoid blowing any loose toner you find on the waste toner unit and move carefully, as the toner will make its way into the air with any bit of movement.Using disposable gloves, unseal the waste toner unit and place the waste toner unit into a plastic bag. Hold the waste toner unit in the bag and temporarily seal the bag. Empty the waste toner into the plastic bag. When the waste toner unit is empty, open the bag and remove it, seal it, and place it back in the printer.Always reach out to us if you are unsure on any issue you are experiencing with your printer by phone or email, or visit our workshop.
