What is printer ribbon?
A printer ribbon is a thin strip of material of alternating CMYK colours, that is used to transfer ink or toner onto the paper. Dot-matrix printers, thermal printers and daisy-wheel printers use ribbons. In a dot-matrix printer, the ribbon is placed between the printer head and the paper. As the printer head moves back and forth across the ribbon, it applies pressure to the ink or toner, causing it to transfer onto the paper. The ribbon then moves to the next section of the page and the process is repeated until the entire page has been printed.
How long should my printer’s ribbon last?
The lifetime of a printer ribbon depends on the type of printer and the amount of printing being done. It’s important to check the manufacturer’s recommendations for your specific printer and ribbon to determine how long it is expected to last.
